2B Trained Ltd was incorporated in 2021 which provides training and consultancy services for temporary works helping training providers with course delivery and assisting construction organizations in developing management processes for the safe execution of the design and build of temporary works.
In 2023, the online resource and brand mytemporary.works was developed to provide guidance to support construction companies and training providers, publications, downloadable template policies, forms, and checklists for safely managing the design and build of temporary works in accordance with BS 5975-1:2024.
In 1989, Neil joined the Corps of Royal Engineers, initially completing 2 years at the Army Apprentices College in Chepstow becoming qualified as a mechanical engineer. Following graduation, he moved into civil and infrastructure engineering working in many operational environments worldwide in the role of site engineer, and construction and temporary works supervisor on various projects including construction, bridge and road construction, bridge demolition, and water and power distribution.
In 2000, Neil joined the Royal School of Military Engineering at Camberley, Surrey as a construction engineering tutor, teaching trainee soldiers and officers a variety of topics including concreting operations involving formwork design and build, bridge construction including Bailey Bridge and Mabey Bridge’s General Support Bridge, and excavation support. He became a qualified teacher during that time.
On leaving the Sappers in 2004, Neil became operations manager for a Royal Engineer training team, developing apprenticeship schemes and construction engineering training courses and qualifications for military engineers.
From 2007, he held various construction management roles, for projects in the City of London, and London boroughs, and home counties, including temporary works advisor, temporary works coordinator, and designated individual for temporary works with Galliford Try, Linden Homes, Drew Smith, Berkeley Homes, Willmott Dixon, and Rydon Construction.
In 2017, Neil became a qualified and approved CITB temporary works tutor delivering training courses throughout the UK. Neil is a member of the Institute of Royal Engineers, Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and Institute of Civil Engineers.
In 2021, Neil became director of 2B Trained Ltd and developed mytemporary.works, delivering temporary works training, providing advice and guidance, and developing bespoke temporary works processes and procedures for the construction industry.
